So anyway after a hectic last couple of days that some of you can no
doubt attest to, I miraculously got my passport the day before I flew
out, didn’t really help that I was out till 7am you planto bastards!
Me and Phil then managed to get to our plane at least 3 minutes before
they shut the flight, and as predicted it wasn’t until I was actually
sitting in my seat that I finally thought, oh F*#k what am I friggin
doing! Thankfully we were put next to this stunner that helped take
our minds off things.
Ok no thats bullshit, no one ever gets seated next to a hot single
girl on a plane, I think ya need to bribe someone at check in for that
to happen.
So instead we turned to the tinnies of New and VB followed by a couple
of rums, then perhaps a few more, though nothing like the efforts of
Stevo, Troop and Leaver back on the Tahoe trip. The altitude really
does screw ya around, who’d a thought?
We also found ourselves with two bottles of french champagne from
first class to take off the plane with us but thats a long story i
think i’ll keep to myself.
Getting no more than an hours sleep in over 20 hours we landed in LA
where you queue for a queue and for some reason need to pass a
security check point to get to The security check point. After a
gruelling five hour layover where neither of us were exactly feeling
tip top, we eventually caught our flight to Denver. The views were
pretty spectacular flying over Death valley, miles of desert with dead
straight highways, Las Vegas and then the snow covered Rockies before
getting a bus from denver and heading up to stay with my parents who
have been living near Boulder for the year.
As we drove up through the mountains to their place at 8 and a half
thousand feet, (Mt Kosciusko is roughly 7 and a half) it began to snow
and the temperature read a balmy -12 degrees celcius. Bit of a rapid
change from swimming in Sydney a few days before where the water temp
was 19,Boulder
and high time to pack away the boardies.
By this stage I’d had 3 hours sleep in as many days and could barely
string a sentence together, which is probably no different to an
average weekend but with the change in time zones I crashed out hard
for about 16 hours which i could easily have doubled. So spent today
just recovering while it’s still snowing outside. Hoping to get some
snowboarding in tomorrow or the next day and then hopefully check out
a bit of Boulder which is essentially a big college town.
We’ll be heading to Vancouver next week and spending a few days with
Canuck before heading to Calgary, to hopefully catch up with Jeremy
then on to Fernie.
